Vice President, Account Executive
Janae Sorenson is a Vice President and an Account Executive in our Portland Benefits Department. She works with clients in a variety of industries, including Healthcare, Nonprofits, Technology, and Professional Services. Janae’s tenure as President of a life and disability insurance carrier provides her with a unique perspective when consulting with clients on life, disability, voluntary, and executive benefits. This specialty has allowed her to gain experience consulting with national and global employers. A frequent speaker and published author of the benefits industry, she has a passion for creating robust benefits plans that cut costs for both employers and employees.
An industry veteran, Janae has nearly 30 years in the employee benefits arena. After earning her degree in Risk Management and Insurance at The University of Georgia, Janae spent time with national and regional firms on the consulting and carrier side of the business. Janae had various roles including sales rep, director of product development, vice president of sales, and ultimately, president of a Blue Cross Blue Shield owned company.
Janae received the 2011 Portland Business Journal Women of Influence award and participates in the Portland Business Journal’s Bizwomen group and mentoring program. Additionally, she is a board of directors’ member for Morrison Child and Family Services and The Harrington Family Foundation. She is a previous President of The Ainsworth Foundation and English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor. Janae holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation and Certified Voluntary Benefits Specialist (CVBS) designation.
