Matt Thon

Account Executive

Experience

Matt is an Account Executive in our Commercial Department, working with clients such as general contractors, specialty contractors, developers, restaurants, and hospitality organizations. As an account executive, he leads the effort combining the resources available within our firm to tailor insurance programs to meet the risk management needs of the clients he serves.

Matt manages insurance programs for clients mostly in the construction marketplace. Managing these programs has allowed him the opportunity to guide clients through their risk management efforts with a proactive approach to risk control, claims management, negotiations with underwriters, and mitigation of risks present in construction and development operations.

Matt joined Parker, Smith & Feek at the end of 2015, departing a strong, local Alaskan financial institution as a commercial loan officer and, previously, a treasury officer. His years in these roles have given him a deep understanding of what Alaskan businesses face by becoming a valued partner to their business operations. He has extensive knowledge of real estate transactions, underwriting processes, treasury operations, and the risks associated with those activities that are truly unique to Alaska.

Matt believes that continuing his insurance education is vital to staying ahead of new and emerging risks. He is currently pursuing the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designations. Community involvement is an important aspect of his lifestyle. He has served as sergeant-at-arms for Anchorage East Rotary, as well as holding a board seat in the club. He is a member of the Alaska State Council for Ducks Unlimited serving as the major donor chair. Matt is the treasurer for the training trust of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Alaska. He is also serving as an executive committee member for the Associated General Contractors of Alaska as well as participating in the Construction Leadership Council that is sponsored by AGC of Alaska. Matt also participates in the Young Professionals Group via the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, IREM, and CFMA.
