Experience

Steve Brown is Vice President and Account Executive in our Anchorage office. In this capacity, he assists clients with insurance and risk management consulting services in Alaska.

Steve has 33 years of industry experience. The depth and breadth of knowledge that he brings to our clients is based on his extensive property and casualty background, as well as his experience working for treaty reinsurance intermediaries.

Steve began his insurance career in 1988 as a property and casualty underwriter and regularly placed facultative reinsurance on large property risks and more difficult casualty accounts. After five years, Steve transferred to the treaty reinsurance intermediary sector of the industry, where he spent the next 11 years. He designed and placed treaty reinsurance programs for both regional and national insurers with placements both domestically and in London and Bermuda. Steve continued his treaty reinsurance career at Guy Carpenter & Co., Inc. the world’s largest reinsurance broker. In 1999, Steve co-founded Market Reinsurance Intermediaries, Inc., a treaty reinsurance broker owned by a Bermudan insurance services holding company. Currently, Steve’s clients at Parker, Smith & Feek include industries such as borough-owned hospitals, general/specialty contractors, marine contractors, and professional service firms, including law firms, engineers, and architects.

In 2004, Steve relocated his family from California to Anchorage to pursue his insurance career with Parker, Smith & Feek, enjoy the personal benefits of living in Alaska, and be closer to both family and friends. Steve earned a B.A. degree in economics from the University of California at Davis.

He holds the Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) professional designation and both created and taught a reinsurance class for other employees of Parker, Smith & Feek.
