A 67-year-old, business owner was unable to increase the value of his life insurance policies, as he had a serious illness. He had been turned down by many insurance companies because of the pre-condition. He was seeking increases for both his personal and business-owned life insurance.
The business owner met with a Parker, Smith & Feek life insurance specialist who suggested using a “blind” process. Parker, Smith & Feek collected the client’s medical records and sent the information to the insurance carriers after omitting the name and social security number. Parker, Smith & Feek then negotiated with the carriers without prejudice and avoided the need to have the carriers access the client’s MIB (Medical Information Bureau) report.
By using this “blind” process, Parker, Smith & Feek increased his life insurance coverage by over 100 percent, combining for a total of more than $4 million. An added benefit was that the client’s insurance was placed with stronger carriers and with better guarantees.
