Vice President, Account Executive
As a Vice President and Account Executive in our Employee Benefits Department, Joan provides benefit plan designs and consulting services for employers in a wide range of industries, with a particular focus on the healthcare industry.
Joan has expertise in a variety of health benefit areas, including employee benefit strategies, long range planning, budgeting, health promotion and wellness, employee education, and communications. She has extensive experience in all types of funding arrangements including self-insurance, minimum premium, fully insured plans, consumer-directed accounts, and health savings plans. Joan works with employers primarily in healthcare, with a focus on rural healthcare and underserved communities. In addition, she works with professional services, financial services, and construction clients. She is adept at developing comprehensive employee benefits plans that are advantageous to both the organization and its employees. She is the employee benefits leader of our Healthcare Practice Group.
Joan began her career with Blue Cross of Washington and Alaska in 1982, first as a claims specialist and then as an account manager responsible for the development of group healthcare contracts, booklets, and special funding arrangement agreements. She joined Parker, Smith & Feek as a senior account administrator in 1990 and was promoted to account executive in 1995.
Joan is a member of the Employee Benefits Planning Association, Northwest Compensation and Rewards Forum, Western Pension & Benefits, and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. She holds the Health Insurance Association of America (HIA) and Registered Health Underwriters (RHU) professional designations. Joan has sat on Advisory Boards for Premera, Regence, and Delta Dental.
