Experience

John Schmidt is an Account Executive in our Commercial Insurance Department and a Vice President of the firm. He heads our Technology Practice Group and is a member of the Not-for-Profit, Healthcare, Financial Institutions, Manufacturing and Real Estate practice areas as well. He works with our account teams to develop responsive insurance programs that address the special needs for a diverse group of clients.

John started his career in 1985 as a loss prevention engineer. He was also an underwriter and the head of office for a national property insurer. John successfully converted his insurance company experience into insurance broking as he took on client executive responsibilities overseeing all levels of service for a portfolio of clients with a large, global brokerage firm. As Technology Practice Leader, John honed his product knowledge in the directors & officers and professional liability fields. He also has extensive experience with real estate, healthcare, not-for-profit, financial institution and professional service concerns. John graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in mathematics. John has completed several graduate level business courses at Drexel University and Seattle Pacific University. He is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society and Seattle Repertory Theatre Business Council. John holds an agents and brokers license in Washington State as well as non-resident licenses in Alaska, California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Hawaii.
