Experience

Mark is an Account Executive in our Commercial Department, working primarily with clients in the maritime, manufacturing, food, and other related industries. As an account executive, he leverages long-standing relationships and a deep understanding of the maritime industry to match the risk management needs of his clients with Parker, Smith & Feek resources.

Mark comes to Parker, Smith & Feek after two years with a large, national brokerage, where he was instrumental in helping that company grow its maritime book of business. Prior to that, he spent 24 years in the maritime industry, first as a boots-on-deck mariner for many years, then later as a government affairs representative and executive director of several trade associations, advocating for maritime companies in the regulatory realm.

Mark holds a Master of Marine Affairs degree and a professional certificate in Global Trade, Transportation, and Logistics from the University of Washington, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Earth Systems, Science, and Policy from California State University Monterey Bay. Mark is currently working towards his Associate in Marine Insurance Management (AMIM) designation.

Mark believes strongly in service to the community, both in a professional capacity and more broadly speaking. He serves on the Boards of Directors of Seafair, the Seattle Colleges Foundation, and the Northwest Fisheries Association. Additionally, he is an insurance producer representative on the Washington United States Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act Assigned Risk Pool (WARP) Governing Committee. Mark grew up in the Washington, D.C. area and then spent 10 years in California before starting a family in Seattle.
